Lympia Architecture is an architectural practice specialising in the conservation, restoration and transformation of historic buildings and heritage sites. Today, the practice brings together two Architectes en Chef des Monuments Historiques and several heritage architects, working alongside Maxime Faure, Daniel Lefèvre and Max-Arthur Gabay, who collectively embody the expertise, continuity and development of the practice.
Our story began almost fifty years ago with Daniel Lefèvre and Lefèvre-Architectes. In 2018, Lympia Architecture took over and further developed the practice, preserving its accumulated experience and expertise while progressively renewing its methods, team and fields of intervention. This continuity is one of our key strengths: combining decades of experience working on historic monuments with a contemporary approach to conservation, new uses and technical challenges.
Historically working mainly for public-sector clients, Lympia now supports both public institutions and private owners in projects involving listed buildings and sites of significant heritage value. Historic monuments, religious and civic architecture, twentieth-century heritage, urban ensembles, parks and gardens: the diversity of the sites entrusted to us informs an approach that avoids standardised solutions and considers each building in relation to its history, fabric and setting.
Understanding before intervening lies at the heart of our approach. Close observation of the building, historical research and the analysis of its successive alterations and pathologies provide the basis for projects that respect the existing fabric while ensuring its long-term preservation. This understanding goes hand in hand with particular attention to the quality of materials and craftsmanship, traditional skills and specialist contractors, as well as the careful use of contemporary techniques where they can respond appropriately to new uses and present-day requirements.
Restoration, however, is never understood simply as the preservation of a past condition. Keeping heritage alive also means knowing how to adapt it, transform it and, where necessary, give it new uses, while respecting the qualities that define its identity. Authenticity, legibility of intervention and reversibility therefore guide our projects, from initial diagnosis and design studies through to construction and site supervision.
With offices in Paris, Caen and Toulouse, Lympia works throughout France and internationally, with projects and experience across Europe, the Middle East , Asia, etc. Whatever the scale of the project — from an individual decorative element to a major monumental complex — we apply the same level of care and rigour: understanding what has been handed down to us, intervening with precision, and enabling heritage to continue its story.
